Preview: Manchester City vs Arsenal

Title rivals Mancester City and Arsenal will meet on Sunday with both sides needing victory to try and keep up with current leaders Chelsea.

The Blues are six points clear of Arsenal and seven clear of City as both sides will be feeling they need to win or risk being left behind in the title race.

City ended their poor run on Wednesday as they beat Watford 2-0 at the Eithad Stadium while, a day earlier, Arsenal lost their Premier League unbeaten run as they lost 2-1 at Everton.

City are still without Aguero, who is serving his four match ban, and Fernandinho is also out as he serves the last match of his ban. City will also miss Vincent Kompany and IIkay Gundogan through injury.

Arsenal have the same squad available to them that they did against Everton as Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Shkodran Mustafi, Per Mertesacker, Mathieu Debuchy and Danny Welbeck will all miss out.

Alexis Sanchez is the Premier League’s joint top scorer with Diego Costa on 12 goals and he scored in this fixture at the tail-end of last season when the sides drew 2-2.

Arsenal haven’t lost in their last 6 competitive matches against City and Olivier Giroud has scored in his last three games against the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola vs Arsene Wenger

Pep wins: 4 Draws:  2 Wenger wins: 2

Considering that Guardiola was manager of Bayern and Barcelona when Wenger has faced then this isn’t the worst record at all. The teams they are managing will be the closest they ever have been and there’s an argument that this is the first time that Wenger has a stronger squad to pick from.

Chelsea are in action on Saturday, so by the time this is played, they could be nine points clear of Arsenal and ten of City. Both sides will hope for a favour from Palace but neither will really expect it meaning they both will be going for all three points.
