Premier League: Fabregas reaches milestone

Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas became the first Spanish player to notch up 300 appearances in the Premier League.

Fabregas celebrated the milestione during the Blues’ league match against Swansea City. The landmark was even sweeter for Fabregas, as Chelsea won the game 3-1.
The Spanish midfielder played from the start, and even scored the opening goal of the encounter. Later in the game he also provided an assist for Pedro, who made the scoreline 2-1, before Diego Costa also scored to make it 3-1.

Fabregas started his youth career with Barcelona back in Spain, before signing for Arsenal in 2003.
He went on to play for the Gunners till 2011, when he rejoined the Catalan giants. However after spending three seasons with his boyhood club, he returned to London in the summer of 2014. Instead of going back to Arsenal, Fabregas signed for their London rivals, Chelsea, where he won the Premier League and the League Cup in his first season with the Blues.
On Saturday he went 15 appearances clear of ex-Liverpool keeper, Pepe Reina, while the player nearest to him, and still playing in the Premier League is David Silva.

  • Cesc Fabregas – 300
  • Pepe Reina – 85
  • Mikel Arteta – 284
  • Fernando Torres – 212
  • David Silva – 209

His goal against Swansea was his 46th in the competition, which is enough for the third place on such a list.

  • Fernando Torres – 85
  • Diego Costa – 48
  • Cesc Fabregas – 46
  • Juan Mata – 45
  • Mikel Arteta – 41

The assist he provided for Pedro’s goal, lifted him to second place in all-time Premier League assist list, level with Frank Lampard.

  • Ryan Giggs – 162
  • Frank Lampard – 102
  • Cesc Fabregas – 102
  • Wayne Rooney – 101
  • Dennis Bergkamp – 94

There were speculations about him leaving Chelsea, after he fell out of favour after the arrival of Antonio Conte in the summer. Despite starting only six Premier League games so far this season, the Spaniard recently stated that he was not interested in moving away from Stamford Bridge.
