Leicester advance to the Champions League last 16

Leicester City have advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League after a 2-1 victory against Club Brugge at the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal, PSG, Bayern, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Juventus are the sides that are already through also, while Barcelona, Man City, Napoli and Benfica can progress tonight.

The Foxes also go through as Group winners after goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez were enough to see off the Belgian Champions.

Last seasons Premier League Champions have now won more matches in the Champions League this season than the Premier League.

It was only three years ago that Leicester were playing Championship football and now they find themselves within the European elite clubs.

Boss, Claudio Ranieri said after the match “It’s unbelievable! Top of the group! I’m very happy for my players, the chairman, the fans and everybody.”

“It’s very important to be top of the group but now our minds must go onto the Premier League. I want to push players to think about the Premier League now that our job is done.”

The Foxes sit 14th in the Premier League and just two points away from the relegation zone and now face Middlesbrough at the King Power on Saturday, who are only a point behind the Champions.
