Pep Guardiola bans players from having sex after midnight

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has demanded his players refrain from having sex after midnight, according to Samir Nasri.

The French midfielder, who was sent on-loan to Seville on transfer deadline day in August, has said that the rule has been imposed for every night, even if the team doesn’t have a game the next day.

According to BBC Sport, the 29-year-old told French TV programme ‘L’Équipe du Soir’ that sex is not the only thing Guardiola has rules for, but it’s certainly the strangest:

“He banned a lot of things in the kitchen but the biggest anecdote is that he says before a day off, those who want to have (sexual) relations it’s before midnight. And that’s with a day off the next day. It’s because he wants you to have a good night’s sleep.”

Nasri then added that City is not the first club these rules have been imposed on, with Barcelona getting the same treatment:

“He said he told that to Messi, who since then does not get muscle injuries.”

The Frenchman didn’t make a good start to life under Guardiola and made only one appearance for the Manchester club before being shipped out on loan.

Nasri was also made to train alone over the summer, after returning from the break overweight. It’s fair to say the new boss was not impressed with him during pre-season:

“Guardiola told me that I was a mess, he told me several times and even kicked me in the butt, literally,” Nasri told.

Since moving to Seville, the Frenchman has played seven times in Spain and scored three goals. Five of these appearances were made in La Liga and he has also played twice in the Champions League.

When Nasri returns to City after his loan, competition for places will be just as tough as it was this year, so he will need to impress Guardiola if he wants to win a first-team place back.
