Frank Lampard to leave New York City FC

New York City have confirmed that Frank Lampard is set to leave the club at the end of the year.

City signed Lampard in 2014 and was then loaned out to Manchester City for the 2014/15 Premier League season, where he famously scored against Chelsea.

Lampard scored 15 goals in 31 games for  NYCFC and has thanked the fans for their backing during his time at the club.

The former England international became the first ever NYCFC player to net a hat-trick in July this year after he fired three past Colorado Rapids.

NYCFC suffered a disappointing end to the season as they suffered an aggregate 7-0 to Toronto in the MLS Playoffs.

The move by Lampard to end his stay in the states has prompted speculation about his future in football but there no word if he is set to retire.

Lampard started his career at West Ham before signing for Chelsea, where he became the clubs all time top scorer as he scored 211 goals.
